Dr. Hussein Kareem Sultan is a distinguished figure in civil engineering, with an illustrious academic and research career. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the civil engineering department at the University of Mosul, Iraq, in 1991. Subsequently, he pursued his Master’s degree in structural engineering at Cairo University, Egypt, graduating on 26/8/2013. His academic journey culminated in the attainment of his Ph.D. from the structural engineering department at Mansoura University, Egypt, on 5/1/2017.
Currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Al-Muthanna University, Dr. Hussein has made significant contributions to the field. He has authored numerous technical papers published in esteemed civil engineering journals and presented at international conferences. Additionally, he has authored books on concrete technology and the repair and strengthening of concrete structures.

He earned his PhD in Applied Mechanics from the University of California at San Diego in 1974, following a Master’s in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kerala. Dr. Nair has been a faculty member at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) since 1977, where he currently serves as a Professor of Applied Mathematics and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His notable roles include Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Interim Chair of the MMAE Department.
